Josholu village

Josholu village is in Alay region. It is the next village after Gulcha and 120 km from Osh city. The village is landlocked in a long gorge. The end point of the gorge is very beautifull. You can do here muity day trekks and the yurts of shepherds are also just few hours far from the village. There are several guesthouses. You can also hirse a horse if you ilke to visit some summer camps.

Jiptick Pass

Jiptick pass is at 4185 meter above sea level and located between Sarymogol and Kojokelen villages.  It can be reached from both direction, but the one from Sarymogol village is easier and shorter. There is the old unpaved road used to be transportation road in Soviet period. Some parts of the road have been totally destroyed.

Jashtileck village

Jashtileck is the small village located in Chong Alay region. It is 5 hours’ drive by taxi to get there from Osh city. The village is in a big gorge  with the river running in the middile. Almost all the guesthouses are right at the entrance to the gorge and located along the river. Locals here grow the potatoes well known in Osh region. You can fish troutes in the river. The yurts of shepherds are located just 13 km from the village. From theses yurts, you can go further  and do multi day treks.

Gulcha village

Gulcha village is the center of Alay region. The number of population reaches 10000 people.  There are several guesthouses. It is surrounded by mountains. You can do short day trips around these mountains. It is just twenty minutes’ drive by car to reach the shepherd’s yurts. There are many shops and ATMs.

Chyyirchyck summer camp

Chyyrchyck summer camp is at 2400 meters above sea level. It is the first pass on Pamir Highway to Tajikistan. About one hundred shepherds come from all over the region and camp here with their livestock.  According to some locals, they consider this place as the largest summer camp in south Kyrgyzstan.  Most people come here and do business with selling and buying horse’s milk, fermented mare’s milk, slightly alcoholic. Most of the tours of Visit Alay start right from this pass. It is strongly recommended to come here for those who are seeking to experience Kyrgyz traditional nomadic life and to do short day treks. Beshkonush summer camp

In fact, Beshkonush is a gorge at the entrance to Alay valley. It is just 60 km from Osh city to the direction of Sarytash village. You will see a lot of yurts when you go deep into the gorge. Locals frequently arrange horse games in this gorge during summer time.  It is the right gorge for those who are eager to do short day trips from Osh city. Just take shared taxi heading on to Gulcha village from Osh city and be dropped off from the car when you see the arch "Alay region" under Chyyrchyck pass. Tunr right and enter the gorge.

Beshkol lake

Beshkol lake is right at the southern top of Sarymogol pass, 4300 m above sea level.  Nice place for tough trekkers. You can get nice view of Pamir and Alay mountains from the lake. It can be reached by either from Sarymogol village in southern part or from Kojokelen village in northern part. You should go to Sarymogol village and drive one hour to get to the starting point of the trekking. Then 3 hours trek takes to the lake Beshkol. Camp on the shore of the lake. Enjoy the beauty of the pass and lake. Next day come back with the same way you went or continue to corss the pass and down to northen valley. Two days walking after pass take you to Kojokelen village.

Aktor pass

Aktor pass is at 3500 meter above sea level and located in Asankorgon mountain range at the entrance of Alay valley. The pass can be reached either from Murdash village in southern valley or from Saryoi summer camp in northern valley. Just go to the end of the Murdash village and turn right at the first gorge. Walk around 14 km on unpaved road and turn right to the small gorge where you ascend the pass. It takes about four hours to get to the pass. You can see locals who camp in these areas with their livestock during summer season.
