ITINERARY:  Osh city – Sarymogol village – Jitpick Pass, 4185 m –Kojokelen village – Sarybell Pass 3100 m – Koshmoinok valley – Sarymogol valley – Sarymogl pass 4300 m –  Sarymogol village - Osh city


Day 1. Sarymogol village  -  Jiptick pass 4185 m – down to Jiptick summer camp


Departure from Sarymogol village. Drive 20 minutes in the direction of Jiptick pass. Get out of the car and start your trek. Three hours of trekking takes you to the top of Jiptick pass, 4185 m. Have lunch at the top while enjoying the beauty of two mountain ranges: Pamir and Alay. Descend through the pass and arrive at shepherd’s yurts (4 hours).  Set up your tents near yurts and experience shepherd’s life.  Overnight in tents, at 2600 m.


Day 2.Jiptick summer camp  – Kojokelen village -  Kosh-Moynok valley


Breakfast. Morning life keeps locals busy with milking cows and making creams. Start trekking down to Kojokelen village (3 hours). Arrival and lunch in guesthouse. After lunch, trek across beautiful landscape and over the Sary-Bel pass at 3100 m. Walk down to Kosh Moynok valley. Overnight in tent.


Day 3. Kosh-Moinok pass – northern Sary-Mogol valley


Long day of trekking.  Cross the Kosh Moynok  pass at 3223m and go down to Kichik Alay valley (3 hours). Picnic on the road. Then, trek to northern Sary Mogul valley. In the afternoon, you will reach the campsite near the shepherd’s yurt. Overnight in a tent.


Day 4.Foot of Sary Mogul Pass

Trek up along the river. You will see many yaks and other animals such as sheep, goats and cows. Picnic on the road. In the afternoon, you will reach the camp under the Sary Mogul pass. Overnight in tent, at 3800m.

Day 5. Sary Mogul pass at 4300m.

In fact the distance is not long, but the pass takes time. The pass is located at 4320m. The view from the pass is very beautiful. You will see small lakes down the pass. In the afternoon, walk around the lake, and see the glaciers right next to your tents. Night in tent.


Day 6.Southern Sary-Mogul valley
Descend along the river that flows out of the lake, with the cliffs of Pamir around you. Picnic along the river. Here, there are no trees or bushes. There are several river crossings. In the late afternoon, you will reach a yurt camp of nomads. People are really friendly here. They will invite you to dinner with their welcoming families. You can enjoy the “kymyz” milk of a mare, fermented and slightly alcoholic. Relax as the master of the yurt tells you the secrets of Pamir. Night in tents.


Day 7.Sary-Mogol village
Breakfast. Departure towards Sary-Mogol village. Arrival in Sarymogol  around lunch time. Stay in the village or leave for Osh city, just three hours to Osh city.

Sarybell pass

Sarybell pass is located in Kichick Alay region. It can be reached from Kojokelen village.  It is around 3100 meter above sea level. Just four trekking takes you the pass from Kojokelen village. After pass you descend to Koshmoinok valley. You can multi day treks around the this area.

Murdash village

Murdash village is 100 km from Osh city. It is in Alay valley, just 15 km from Gulcha to the south east. Murdash village offers amazing trekking opportunites. You can go to Kojokelen village in three days from this village. The trekking route from Murdash to Sary summer camp is two days walk with amazing passes, rivers and juniper forests. Just going to Murdash in itself is interesting.

Koshmoinok valley

Koshmoinok valley is in Kichik Alay region. It is between two passes Sarybell and Koshmoink. This valley offers nice route to do trekking around. There are many shepherds who come and camp here for three monthes. Right to the south of the valley there is a gorge which takes to the glaciers.

Kojokelen village

Kojokelen is in Kichik Alay region, 95 km from Osh city. There are about 100 households live in the village. Several people offer guesthouses. It is located in a big gorge covered with juinper trees on its both slopes. There is a river flowing towards the north. It is very famous river with its trout.

Jiptick summer camp

Jiptick summer camp is in three hours walking distance from Kojokelen village. The unpaved raod goes alng the river up to the summer camp. You can see some locals mowing a grass and preparing it for winter fodder. There are several shepherds at the end of the gorge. They offer accomodaion and meals in a yurt. Some toursits use their srvices before the head up to Jiptick pass.

Jiptick Pass

Jiptick pass is at 4185 meter above sea level and located between Sarymogol and Kojokelen villages.  It can be reached from both direction, but the one from Sarymogol village is easier and shorter. There is the old unpaved road used to be transportation road in Soviet period. Some parts of the road have been totally destroyed.
